Home Security Burglar Alarm

As the U.S. economy has weakened, families are forgoing what they perceive as luxuries. One of those so-called “luxuries” is a home security burglar alarm.

Families with security systems may let their monitoring contracts lapse, while new sales are tough to find for companies. Some homeowners are turning to buying a dog and keeping a baseball bat by the door to serve as the home security burglar alarm!

For homeowners who want to purchase home security alarm systems, they are finding many options and opportunities to save money. With fewer people buying security systems and more companies providing them, competition has driven the price down.

A price comparison of three of the largest security companies reflects this trend. Here’s a comparison of the lowest priced packages for home security systems:

Protect America offers the less expensive system. Installation and the equipment are free and you pay a $34.95 monitoring fee. The contract is for three years.

• Upfront costs for ADT are $369 with a $33.99 monitoring fee for a three year contract.

Brinks cost $155 upfront with a $29.99 monitoring fee for three years.

Keep in mind you will be paying more if you want to add motions sensors and sensors for your doors or windows to a home security alarm system. Most companies offer additional discounts for package deals and will customize a plan for your home.

These prices are changing as the competition increases among providers of home security systems. Many companies are making special offers on security systems for the home. Brinks is offering a $49 installation package on its Web site, but does not go into the details. ADT has a Web site special of $99 installation after a $200 rebate.

Another cost saving option in home security burglar alarm systems is to buy one at a home improvement store and attempt a home security installation yourself. The pros of these types of home security alarm systems are the cost. You won’t have to open your home to a stranger who will install the system.

However, security systems can be difficult to install if you have no experience with construction or wiring. And if you continually set the alarm off while installing the system, you could be fined if emergency services come to your home unnecessarily.

Each homeowner has to decide which home security burglar alarm works for their home and their budget. With prices decreasing, now is the time to invest in a home security surveillance system.
