Home Security Camera Setups

Planning to install your own surveillance cam? Here are some quick tips on proper home security camera setups.

Firstly, there are three main components that should exist in home security camera setups. These are:

1. The spy cam, of course. This is the heart of all home security camera systems. You just have to mount it above the area you want monitored, in an angle that will provide the widest view, away from intrusive materials that will obstruct the same. You can install up to 4 spy cameras if you so wish.

2. The cables. These are extendable wires that will connect the camera to…

3. The security camera monitor. You can use any viewing device as a monitor for your hidden camera. A PC will be perfect. A TV set will suffice. Heck, believe it or not, even a Sony PSP can serve as a makeshift monitor. I strongly recommend a standard PC monitor, with the extendable cables connected to the PC itself. This way, you can record the events that unfold on your hard drive for later viewing. TV sets are good as well, and closed circuit TV, or CCTV, in a way is more reliable, but you will have to consume many tapes just to record the proceedings, and you will have to monitor the video recorder to change the said taped when they are exhausted.

Home security surveillance, as you can see, isn't demanding at all. Its components are easy to procure. Of course, you will have to pay more for quality products, but even the more affordable ones will serve your purposes well.

Establishing home security isn’t hard, and neither is it exorbitantly priced in this day and age.

Home security camera systems, indeed, are just a matter of the 3 aforementioned components connected to each other. 1 is connected to 2, and 2 is connected to 3. Yes, it’s as easy as that.

Installing more than one spy camera?

No problem!

A monitor, whether it be a TV or a PC monitor, can accommodate up to 4 security cams all at the same time. The screen will just be divided into 4 sections, with each section showing what its respective hidden cam is seeing. You need only one security camera monitor at the control room.

Spy cams connected to the PC may have problems with heat, considering that the PC will be on for as long as events are being recorded. This may cause some problems for home security camera setups. Hence, it is strongly recommended that PCs with excellent cooling systems be preferred as such will allow the PC to withstand the heat generated by continuous use.
