Motion Sensor Security Light
A motion sensor security light offers a versatile set-up with settings for sensitivity, timing, and distance, and an effective increase in protection against a home intrusion.

Lighting your home for protection goes behind installing a few lights in the dark corners of your home. Variable time settings feature, such as off, 3-hour operation, 6-hour operation, or dusk to dawn. A full bright light is activated as soon as movement is detected, to illuminate a broad coverage arc, and can remain lit for a pre determined period of time (often 1, 3 or 8 minutes) after motion stops.

Features to a motion sensor lighting system include sensitivity adjustment, a wide-angle lens to view 150 - 240°, with an actual detection zone of some 10,000 - 22,000 square feet. Or if a complete 360° view is desired a ball-shaped head is often able to swivel in all directions to light the desired area.

A very simple DIY home security project to take on with all mounting hardware often included, such as its bracket, bolts, straps, wire connectors, and a light shield. Constructed in a heavy-duty metal casing to protect the lamp, that's also weather-resistant exterior.

An alternative to a standard mains or battery operated systems is a solar security light with motion sensor. Still able to offer the same motion activation capabilities, by saves on energy costs, offer ease in installation (no electrician required), and once on full charge, able to activate 120 - 160 times, if on less than sixty-seconds at a time.

Many of these motion sensor security lights are equipped with advanced technologies, such as pulse count, to avoid often-annoying false alarms that come with outside disturbances, such as rain or wind.

A motion sensor can detect up to 35 - 100 feet from its roof or wall-mounted position, with the detection range adjustable, so that on a shorter drive way it isn't going to activate as a vehicle speeds past. Also, lights can often come with a convenient switch within a home to turn a light on or off, and is a manual override to lights own settings.

These light systems are perfect for all outside positions in need of additional security protection, such as a driveway, walkway, garden shed or workshop.
